EU DIRECTIVE (LIGHT BULBS)
The European Commission has decided to prohibit the sale of energy-intensive light bulbs for household use in stages up to 2016.
BULBS DUE TO BE PROHIBITED.
1st September 2009 incandescent lamps 80w and above.
1st september 2010 incandescent lamps over 65w (and spotlamps).
1st September 2011 incandescent lamps over 45w.
1st September 2012 incandescent lamps over 7w.
1st September 2016 lamps with energy class C.
The new directive does not mean that incandescent lamps may no longer be used in the home,it regulates retail sales.Energy saving bulbs are initially more expensive to buy,however in most cases they pay for themselves after a year.
